Before having plans of being developed by City Developments Limited in the middle of Orchard Road, the location was simply a small lane lined with farms. If we take a look back 150 years ago the entire road was a thin lane that had orchards, pepper farms, and nutmeg plantations. The development really began in the 1850s when people started moving and hawking centers, wet markets, temples, and a laundry basin were constructed. It is also the location where Singapore’s first supermarket was opened and by 1970 the area had large malls, cinemas, and even a bowling alley. For the sake of the closest approximation, we will be comparing the project with New Futura, a similar high-end condo project located in District 9. The developers CDL sold 18 of the 25 units at the price of S$3,200 per square foot during the year of its launch, later on during the next launch of another 30 units, 21 of them were sold for about S$3,500 per square foot. The prices for Boulevard 88 are expected to be in the range of S$3,500 to S$4,200 per square foot due to the different nature of its development.
